American Football superstar Marshawn Lynch promotes the Super Bowl during visit to Houston ... in Renfrewshire

The eyes of the world will be on Houston, Texas this weekend for Super Bowl LI – but it was the village of Houston in Renfrewshire that recently attracted an American Football superstar.

Former Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch made the trip across the pond to the village, near Paisley, to promote the hotly anticipated NFL climax between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons.

The star, who was nicknamed “Beast Mode” for his powerful running style, chatted with locals and enjoyed a cycle around the village during his visit.

Lynch also stopped by Paisley’s famous Houston Kiltmakers, Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort and the Houston Inn.

And he showed he could still cope well under pressure as he was approached by a group of kilted warriors, before joining some pipers to have an attempt at playing the bagpipes.

Lynch can be heard shouting “Houston, it’s been real” as he cycles away, having clearly enjoyed his short visit to the village.
