WCS students showcase the art of make-up with Paisley exhibition
Talented Make-up Artistry students from West College Scotland have showcased their work in an end of year extravaganza at the Paisley Abbey on Thursday 11 May.
‘The Art of Hair and Make-up' transported guests including friends, family and industry professionals to a land of fantasy where spectacular visuals were brought to life with mythical creatures, monsters and fairy-tale characters.
Hairdressing, Beauty and Make-up Artistry, Head of Sector, Karen McIlvenna, said “This event is a wonderful opportunity for our HND Makeup Artistry students to showcase their skills in this iconic venue of Paisley Abbey in the year of Paisley’s bid for ‘city of culture 2021’.
‘Events like this highlight to our employers and industry partners not only the unique skills and technical abilities of our students, but their approach to their own career management and entrepreneurial pitch of their work.
‘Once again, this event has proved to be a huge success. Each of the students worked extremely hard on the run to event creating and perfecting their own personal looks and display areas.
‘We are exceptionally proud of what each of them have achieved; they’re a credit to themselves and the College and I’m in no doubt that they will go on to successful careers within the Make-up Industry.”
Rebecca Paton, 21 from Renfrew and Greenock Campus student said: "I’ve really enjoyed learning all the special effects. My model is inspired by my love of CSI. It’s been hard work but all worth it. I’m hoping to get some general experience in make-up when I leave."
Sharon Burns, 46 from Paisley and Greenock Campus student said: "I was a Hairdresser and Beautician to trade and wanted to increase my skills. The course has been great; I’ve really enjoyed it. I’m glad I made the decision to do this and excited to see where I can go with it."
