Vegan Leather jump into Paisley 2021 taxi to head to T in the Park

It’s not every day you see a Paisley 2021 taxi picks up an up and coming band and heads off in the direction of T in the Park.

Paisley band The Vegan Leather did just that – hailing the taxi from in front of the magnificent Paisley Abbey for the first leg of their journey to Strathallan Castle.

They are set to wow festival goers with their energetic art pop sound and high-powered live performances when they take to the T Break stage at T in the Park on Saturday 9 July.

Kicking off their journey with the Paisley 2021 - wrapped on a Paisley Taxis cab as part of their support for Paisley's bid for UK City of Culture 2021 - is the ideal way to build up for some stiff competition for the band.

The Vegan Leather are going up against more established acts, such as Travis, The 1975 and the legendary Bay City Rollers, on the bigger stages.

That doesn’t faze the Paisley quartet, who are hoping to follow in the footsteps of another famous Paisley son, Paolo Nutini, who headlined on the T Break stage in 2006.

Spot it! The Paisley 2021 taxi will be driving around the West of Scotland, helping to raise awareness of the Paisley 2021 bid.

Gianluca Bernacchi, Duncan Carswell, Marie Collins and Matthew McGoldrick, initially formed after guitarist Gianluca and drummer Duncan met at the Loud n Proud rock school in Paisley.

Bass player Matthew, who studies Music Technology at the University of West of Scotland in the town, and singer Marie completed the line-up soon after.

Fun fact! The Vegan Leathers are named after a pair of faux leather trousers owned and worn on stage by Gianluca.

Gianluca Bernacchi, the band's guitarist, said the band is hugely excited to be making their debut at the T in the Park this year – and that they’ve got a great slot!

Jean Cameron, Bid Director, wished the group well on their slot on the T Break stage – and can’t wait for them to play their next home town gig.
